WHAT HAPPENED?
The outspoken Portuguese coach has been firing verbal volleys at the authorities in Turkey on a regular basis since taking the reins at Super Lig side Fenerbahce. He has branded the Turkish top-flight “toxic” amid “strange” goings on.

His latest grievance does not relate to a game that he was involved in, but it does feature a former Fener player. Miguel Crespo is now on the books of Istanbul Basaksehir and lined up against Galatasaray in a Turkish Cup clash on Wednesday.

WHAT MOURINHO SAID
During that game, Crespo was caught by a high challenge from Abdulkerim Bardakci. Said incident went unpunished, with Mourinho posting a clip of the tackle in question on Instagram alongside a message that reads: “Dear @miguelcrespo_oficial I hope you are well and your shin pads are made of carbon.”

There has been talk of Mourinho’s stint in Turkey, which is supposed to last until the end of his contract in 2026, being cut short. The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss is seeing a return to the Premier League speculated on.
